Sales Director (1099 contractor)
Posted January 16, 2026
About Way Forth Collective
Way Forth Collective provides operational leadership and strategic insights for purpose-driven organizations that are stretched thin. We come alongside executive leaders as trusted thought partners, designing and running the operational systems and projects they don’t have capacity to execute themselves.

Our work frees leaders to focus on what they do best while leaving their teams more aligned, organized, and sustainable than when we arrived.
About This Role
We're looking for a Sales Director who is passionate about purpose-driven organizations and is familiar with how critical operational strategy and project management best practices are to achieving goals.

This right person for this role is amazing at building genuine, relational connections that lead to meaningful partnerships. This is not a transactional sales role; our work is highly personal and relational, and we need someone who can adapt our strategic positioning into authentic conversations that feel natural, not scripted.

You'll report to the CEO and work in collaboration with her and the Chief Growth Officer (CGO), who will provide a clear strategic framework. However, you will also have significant autonomy in how you build relationships and close deals. You'll be the bridge between our growth strategy and real human connections.
Key Responsibilities
What you'll do
-
Drive active outreach and pipeline development - Conduct proactive outreach to potential clients, qualify leads, and follow up on warm introductions to maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified prospects
-
Build authentic relationships - Schedule and conduct discovery calls where you listen deeply to understand each prospect's unique needs, building trust-based relationships rather than delivering transactional pitches
-
Close deals and ensure smooth transitions - Move qualified prospects through the sales process to signed contracts, navigate pricing conversations, and facilitate handoffs to the delivery team
-
Provide strategic market intelligence - Share insights on what messaging resonates, surface common objections and patterns, and flag opportunities in new markets or service areas
-
Manage CRM and forecast accurately - Maintain up-to-date records in Monday.com, track prospects through sales stages, and provide regular pipeline health updates
What Success Looks Like
-
Consistent pipeline of qualified opportunities with strong conversion rates
-
Authentic client relationships where prospects feel heard and understood
-
Regular, actionable market intelligence shared with leadership
-
Revenue targets met or exceeded
Time Commitment
We're a fully remote team operating across North America with deep trust and flexibility. There are only a few weekly time commitments:
-
Weekly Way Forth team meeting (Tuesdays at 10:30 MT)
-
Weekly meeting with CGO (time TBD), with CEO joining monthly

Who You Are
Way Forth works extensively with faith-based organizations, particularly Christian nonprofits. The ideal candidate is familiar with and comfortable in conversations with leaders who adhere to a Christian faith.
Must-Haves
-
Proven track record in relational, consultative sales (not transactional)
-
Ability to build genuine connections and earn trust quickly
-
Self-directed and proactive; thrives with autonomy
-
Excellent active listening and communication skills
-
Experience with CRM systems and pipeline management
-
Comfortable with ambiguity and taking strategic guidance to run with
-
Experience working with nonprofits
Nice-to-Haves
-
Existing network in the nonprofit/faith-based space
-
Familiarity with Monday.com and Slack
-
Active user of AI tools
Working Style We're Looking For
You make our messaging your own rather than following a script. You genuinely care about fit—not just closing deals—and you're comfortable saying "we're not the right fit" when that's true. You see yourself as a connector and relationship builder who's energized by helping people solve real problems.

Values
Way Forth’s core values are: People Matter, Adaptability, Collaboration, and Trust, and we’re looking for team members for whom those values resonate and will adapt into their work and interactions.

Compensation
This role has a base pay of $250/week and commission rates based on sales performance. As a 1099 contractor, you will have the flexibility to manage your own schedule and work independently.

The commission structure is:
-
10% on the first $200,000
-
12% on the next $300,000+
-
$5,000 Bonus if $100k in sales is signed within your first 45 days.
Annual salary of $69k - $200K+ is possible.
